How to Choose a Video Production Company in Miami: A 7-Point Checklist
October 30, 2026 · 4 min read
Search "video production Miami" and you get hundreds of options: solo videographers, big agencies, wedding studios that also "do business". Most have a nice reel. That doesn't make them the right fit for your business.
Here's the checklist we'd use if we were hiring a video team ourselves.
1. Look for work like the video you need
A great wedding film doesn't prove someone can make a brand video that wins clients. Ask for two or three examples close to your project: the same format (brand video, social content, product video) and, ideally, a similar kind of business.
2. Ask who plans the story
Most business videos fail before filming starts. Nobody decided what the viewer should feel or do. A good video production company asks about your clients, your offer and what makes people choose you. Then it shapes that into a story before anyone picks up a camera. If the first question is "how many hours of filming do you need?", keep looking.
3. Check that they direct people, not just film them
Most business owners aren't actors, and that's fine. What matters is whether the team knows how to make you comfortable on camera, with prompts, interview-style questions and several takes, so you sound like yourself and not like you're reading a script.
4. Videographer or production company? Know the difference
A videographer usually films and edits on their own. That can work for simple projects. A video production company brings a team: a producer, a director, camera operators and editors. You get more planning, more angles and a steadier result, which matters when the video is the first thing a high-value client sees.
5. Ask what you actually get at the end
One long video? Short cuts for Instagram and LinkedIn? Photos from the same day? Get the list of deliverables in writing, including formats (vertical and horizontal), the number of revisions and the turnaround time.
6. Think beyond one video
One brand video builds trust. Steady content keeps you visible. If you'll need regular posts, ask whether the team offers a monthly content plan, so one shoot day turns into weeks of videos and photos instead of starting from zero every time.
7. Notice how they treat you before you pay
Fast, clear replies, a real conversation about your goals and a written proposal are good signs of how the project will run. Vague answers before you sign usually mean vague answers after.
